WHAT TO EXPECT

week 1- Sunday 3rd May

Cast members arrive in our Camden rehearsal space and are welcomed by the LAB team. Lots of people are new and might be nervous so we start with some easy 'get to know you' games. This is followed by fun vocal and acting warm ups and then our directors introduce characters and songs from the musical.  These songs/script excerpts with be the foundation of auditions for casting. Nobody will be asked to perform alone on week 1 and each cast member is given an audition pack to help them prepare for the next two weeks. We always recommend wearing comfortable clothes for movement and to bring a snack/lunch for break time.

week 2 and 3 casting-10th and 17th mAY

Cast members have had their audition pack for a week and should have an idea of which parts they would like to go for. We always recommend trying for lots of parts to make sure we find you the right role. In amongst auditions, we play lots of games, rehearse script and songs so everyone feel empowered in the audition room.

If cast members would rather not try out for a singing role. That's fine too. Whatever part/parts our cast members get, they always have lots to do. That's why we have two casts!

Building the show- 31st may -28th June

The show is built piece by piece every Sunday from 12.30 - 16.30. Each week different scenes/songs are rehearsed by our team. We enjoy getting to know the cast and create a feeling of community, peer-on-peer appreciation and positivity. This is the time we really start to see what our cast members can do. We set the bar high, encourage and coach and work towards a performance everyone can be proud of. Guidance for costumes are sent out to parents during these weeks.

Rehearsals run from 9.00 - 16.30 daily. Lines are mostly learnt, now we piece the show together! This is the week that we bring in the set and rehearse in the performance space. Costume checks are finalised and props are in for rehearsals. Cast members perfect their directions, acting, singing and dance routines, our full team of 5 LAB experts work with groups to ensure everyone knows what they need. This week is fast-paced and exhilarating. It's a bonding experience and wonderful unveiling of the show with lighting and tech.
